Materials

Find the right stone.

An honest overview of each material: how it looks, how it lives and how to care for it.

Natural stone

Granite

A tough, heat-resistant natural stone with a huge range of colors and patterns. No two slabs are alike.

Great for

  • Busy kitchens
  • Outdoor kitchens
  • Bar tops

Keep in mind

  • Needs periodic sealing
  • Pattern varies slab to slab
CareWipe with warm water and mild soap. Reseal every 1–2 years. If water stops beading, it's time.
Engineered stone

Quartz

Engineered from crushed quartz and resin for a consistent, non-porous surface that's easy to live with.

Great for

  • Low-maintenance kitchens
  • Bathroom vanities
  • Uniform looks

Keep in mind

  • Not for outdoor use (UV)
  • Use trivets for hot pans
CareNo sealing needed. Mild soap and water; avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive pads.
Natural stone

Marble

Timeless, with soft veining and a luminous depth. Develops a lived-in patina many homeowners love.

Great for

  • Baths and showers
  • Fireplace surrounds
  • Baking stations

Keep in mind

  • Can etch from acids
  • Softer than granite
CareWipe spills quickly, use a pH-neutral cleaner and reseal every 6–12 months. Honed hides etching best.
Natural stone

Quartzite

Very hard natural stone that often looks like marble but performs more like granite.

Great for

  • Marble look, more durable
  • Kitchen islands
  • Waterfall edges

Keep in mind

  • Premium price range
  • Needs sealing
CareMild soap and water. Reseal about once a year.
Natural stone

Soapstone

Matte and velvety, naturally non-porous, and darkens to a rich charcoal with oiling.

Great for

  • Farmhouse kitchens
  • Hearths
  • Integrated sinks

Keep in mind

  • Scratches easily (they sand out)
  • Limited colors
CareNo sealing. Mineral oil every few weeks at first for an even color.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Can I pick out my exact slab?

Yes, and we encourage it. We'll take you to our partner showrooms and slab yards and walk the slabs with you.

How long will my project take?

Every project is different, so we don't quote a standard timeline. Once we've seen your plans, we'll give you a schedule for your project.

Do you have a showroom?

We're fabricators and installers, so instead of a showroom we have our own fabrication facility. For choosing stone, we take you to our partner showrooms, where the selection is far bigger than any single showroom could hold.

Do you remove old countertops?

We can. Mention it in your inquiry and we'll include tear-out and disposal in your quote.

Do cabinets need to be installed first?

Yes. We template on installed, level cabinets for the most accurate fit. If we're doing your cabinetry too, we schedule both together.

Still deciding on stone?

We’ll help you choose, and take you to our partner showrooms.
